Super Nova

Yea... i think i oficialy am insane with this one... i worked all day on Fri and stayed up till 4 working on this and i think im payn for it now *is tired* oh well i think it was worth it...

this is for my final in Image Manipulation for Animation and i realy wanted to do my best in that class by encorperating as many of the techniques that he showed us in it. this is sorta a combination of all the different assignments i had in that class thus far.

for example... i used both a grayscale method and comicbook style to shade the flat colors on him. This way i gave every panel in his structure a gradient along with clean cut layers of shading with diff opacities so that the gradient showed through each layer.

Once he was colored i created a light blue layer at low opacity and gave him a tint to match the blue glowing energy around him. i also did a reflections layers witht he same efect adding more blue highlights to him. once that was done i created a new layer and set to creating the energy effect around him. i started by just plainting with a soft airbrush streaks of blue around him. then i used the smudge tool to create the flame or energy like look to them. once that was done i aded a lighter color to the flames tips and smudged them again to give them a little more depth.

once i finished coloring him and creating the energy i set out on a background. first i blocked in the major structure of the moonrock landscape and the Background (my flats) then i created a gradient within the flat of the landscape. i set to work on creating the imperfections on the surface and went with a combination of coloring it by hand and using the smudge tool as well as using a mask of the moons surface at low opacity. this gave it more texture. i then worked on the cracks where he is standing and the glow efects comming from his energy that are being cast on the surface. after that i created the stary background and wala. finished.

so yea im not expecting anyone to read all that but mainly its there for portfolio purposes since i know people are more interested in seeing how you created something sometimes then just the finished product.
