Amani and Shikoba Sculpture

This is the finished unpainted sculpture i did for Sculpure for animation class. i must say this has been my favorite class of the qtr. i had alot of fun with these two characters from designing them to creating thier story to sculpting them. now the next step is to bake this statue and then pant it. i just hope i can get it done in time for the date due it is the final.

i my opinion the hardest part was to bend all of the copper wire and creat the armature with the wire and apoxy puddy. once that was done i went on to create the form of the body mostly using tinfoil to decrease the weight of the statue and so it would not crack when baking becasue is the sculpey s to thick in areas it will crack. i then covered the whole body in a thin layer of sculpy then began adding the details. the feathers are what took the longest. each one i made individually and applied using my tools to sement them tot he rest of the figure. the wings i worked on later in the same mater only every other feather has a thin tinfoil base to give it more support. i did this for the head feathers as well. everything else was done in steps so that it would not get ruined while i finished up the sculpture.

from tip of the tail to the tip of the beak the stature is about 22 inches long and from the base to the top of Amanis crown it is 13 inches high.
